The Battered Husbands Support or “BHS” was started in August 1998 as
a simple Yahoo! (tm) Group.
Since this humble beginning, BHS with its members, help each
other work through their situation.
No one except other men who have experienced abuse can really
appreciate the situation as well.
We at “BHS” want to bring information to the battered male, friends,
family, society, but especially that of law enforcement and the
courts the truth about domestic violence,
Domestic violence is not gender specific, where it is only
the female that is the victim.
In numerous studies, it has shown that females are just as
likely to initiate intimate partner violence.
We also want to provide support to the battered male using
our forum, where the battered male can talk to other that
understands what they are going through.
Although we are primarily here to promote the understanding and reduction, if not the elimination of battered males, we do have other values. We do believe that:
(1) no person, whether male, female, child or the elderly deserve to be abused; and any person that is guilty of abuse, regardless of gender, needs to be held accountable;
(2) accurate reporting of abuse is necessary;
(3)
judicial, law enforcement, and government at all levels need to
understand that domestic abuse is not a gender issue, and that both
males and females abuse; and thus they need to be treated equally.
If you're a man that has been battered by your (female or male)
partner, this is a place to come for support.
We do welcome friends and family to join us to help
understand about the battered male.
Women who want to support us are welcome here also.
We are not abusers, liars or anti-feminists.
We want equality and peace.
We don't promote abuse in any manner; but we do promote the
peaceful working out of differences in all aspects of life.
Both men and women have an important part in life, society
and the raising of children.
We welcome you to join us at our discussion board.
Here victims and survivors of domestic violence, supporters,
advocates, friends and family members of victims and survivors of
domestic violence discuss their situation(s) and are given help and
advice.
